Effective motivation system helps in greatly increasing the performance of the employees performance hence productivity is also increased. Maslows theory and self determination theory should help the companys recognition scheme. Maslow theory has been depicted as a pyramid which shows the needs of a human being (Healy, 2016). The first one is the physiological scheme in which the employee expects to have a goof working environment and should get monthly salary and also should provide essential facilities. The second is the safety needs where there would be a contract between the employer and the company and also benefit with pension and sick pays (Maslow, 2013). The third one is the social needs where there will be groups working across teams at different levels encouraging team building through social activities. The fourth one is the self-esteem where one expects to get respect and praise from others. Feedback and appraisal system can help in recognizing the employees contribution. Celebrating employees achievement would also help them in regaining that self respect and appraisal. The last in the pyramid is the self-actualisation, where one employee is motivated to believe in one self so that he/she can have career discussions among managers and human resource and also they should have the confidence that they can fill any future vacancies (Maslow, 2015) ("Summary of Maslow on Self-Transcendence", 2017). The second theory would be the self determination theory or SDT which is concerned with the supporting of natural or intrinsic tendencies to behave in effective and healthy ways ("Extrinsic vs. intrinsic motivation: what's the difference? - NTD.TV", 2017). SDT is mainly concerned with basic three psychological needs that are competence, relatedness and autonomy can be used for the optimal development and functioning of human persons. Competence can be referred to as meeting the daily challenges and demands of environment. These can be achieved by effective outcomes and having desired goal sets. Autonomy can be defined as having the control in making choices from ones own will (Van den Broeck, Vansteenkiste De Witte, 2013). The essential elements that bring about the autonomy includes self awareness of ones motives, external demands and emotions and having the chance of self direction and choice making and have active involvement. Both competence and autonomy are necessary for mainta ining the intrinsic motivation (Kehoe Wright, 2013). Relatedness can be defined as the need to achieve connections and closeness with others. This will further provide emotional security. SDT shows the need to get competence, relatedness and autonomy and describes it as compatible and universal. SDT says the people gets influenced by their culture in assigning the meaning and often interpret as positive or negative. With the help of SDT, many employees can get their recognition as they know what is good for them and what decisions will make profit for the company (Spence Deci, 2013). If they give any feedback or suggestion that can really help the organization, they will be automatically recognized by their managers and hence they can get some rewards or incentives which will motivate them to work more and more and they would prove to be more productive in the coming years. Autonomous academics help to adapt learning attitudes, academic studies and well being. Autonomous helps a person to decide what is good and what is bad (Kehoe Wright, 2013). This helps those making decisions which are more effective and this helps them stand out of the blue. Their intellectual thinking helps them to think more deeply and this also helps in recognition of the employees among the peers and gives them a better chance for the upliftment (Renz, 2016). Hence, these theories can help in the recognition scheme as with the above theory, one can evaluate oneself more deeply and one can make him/her more useful. McDonalds approach is very much different from any not for profit organization. McDonalds approach to managing the HR would not be directly applicable for the Non-profit organization as McDonalds is doing business for which they need human resources to run that organization where as in any NGOs; they work there willingly to help people. McDonalds is solely dependent on human labor so they need some rewards and motivation so as to keep their workers in place (Renz, 2016). They need some lucrative offers too so that their crew remains interested. Along with the rewards, they need to provide some allowances like free food, place to live, pensions and a good working environment whereas in case of Spastic Centre, as they are NGOs, they dont find this attractive (Butler Wilson, 2015). McDonalds per year make millions of turnover and they are the longest chain in the fast food market and hamburgers. For McDonalds, human resource management is required to look after every department and how it is operating and with time providing them with rewards occasionally (Grant, 2016). The not for profit organizations is a company that is trying hard to find quality staff for a long run. Therefore, the not-for profit organizations are trying hard for the retention of their existing employees (Butler Wilson, 2015). The company also offers quality training for their employees so that they can reach the goals that they up set for. Monetary rewards are hard to give to the employees working for any not-for-profit organization, as they do only work for the betterment of the society. The tax is deducted from the salary of the employees. Facilities such as superannuation scheme, perquisites, and food provision scheme are given to the employees of Spastic Centre (Alliance, 2017); however there is no scope for any kind of opportunities. McDonalds is able to give much better opportunities and security to the staff from all the investment and franchise that is under the company. Since an argument always forms two way paths, there will be no topic untouched for the same argument. Managing strategies are also different for any not for profit organization. Some conditions are there that need to be checked before the proceedings where one needs to check if there is any opportunity in the growth of the company; whether it covers insurance of the employees and whether the employees can find any sort of competitiveness in there workplace . Conclusion Rewards are really important for any organization but on the other hand, it is bad also as when there will be no rewards or any monitory benefit is included in any other work, then that individual may not want to do that task anymore. Good managers motivate their workers to do even good. Motivation helps anyone to do a task more efficiently and can prove to be more productive. With their productivity in line, they can benefit the company more and hence they get recognition from their peers. With rewards and incentives included, they can take their work more seriously (Wilton, 2016). Three more epidemics would follow the 1832 outbreak, 1848, 1854, and 1866. Until Robert Koch was credited with isolating Vibrio cholerae in 18833, the community was constantly torn over the cause of disease in general and specifically cholera. Many theories came about, each seemingly disputing the previous. With these new scientific theories came arguments as to the best methods to prevent, control and deal with the cholera. Until Kochs discovery ended the dispute, there was never a general consensus as to the best method of care for cholera victims. This paper will look at the causes and symptoms of cholera, statistics of the four outbreaks, the different effects that cholera had on the lay people, and the differing theories and how they slowed progress towards prevention of cholera. Cholera is a disease caused by the bacteria Vibrio cholerae. Cholera is spread through water or food that has been contaminated by the feces of others infected with cholera4. Whether they are called confirmation, communion, graduation, birthdays, initiations or funerals, certain amount of rituals that characterized there activities and make them special are integrated. In Africa, these special activities or rituals constitute an important aspect of a rich socio-cultural and religious life of the people, and are expressed through various artistic means. Every stage of their lives, traditional Africans adhere to certain values, attitudes and thoughts which are products of their past experiences in relation to the environment and forces within and without, with a strong believe that the universe is given life by spirits that inhibit the fields they farm, the cloud that brings rainfall, the rivers from which they gather fishes and the wilderness where they hunt wild animals and build settlements. Given the existence of these spirituals, ways are sought to contact, to communicate and control their powers, thus, they engage in constant and faithful rituals, sacrifices and worship. In most cases, art, whether through performances or tangible objects, becomes the medium and point of contact. Notable among these manifestations of invisible spirits in tangible forms such as carved wood or stones (sculpture), is the power figure called Nkisi, from kongo. It embodies a spiritual force that is to be placed in a container and placed on the abdomen to wade away evil. To the Yoruba of Nigeria, the Geledeâ⠢ mask, gives identity and personality to the otherwise abstract and intangible spirits of their ancestors. The Ife people of Nigeria made ceremonial busts of their rulers, who were called Oni, to commemorate the reign of their leaders. The Isangui people from Gabon, produced wooden masks used also in ceremonies for a particular village meant to represent the spirits of all the deceased female ancestors of the village. These representations in mysterious and uncanny forms by the African artist, offers a means through which the emerging forces nature and the power of magic are expressed, thereby evoking an effective source for the spiritual embodiment and stability which provides religion with purpose and meaning, helping people to understand and cope with circumstances and occasionally explains the misfortune and other unexpected events of life. Granted, the traditional belief system that form the basis on which art in Africa is produced, expresses a respect for a universal life force which cannot be contacted directly, except through mediums that serves as intermediaries, these mediums are carved, built or arranged by a special and sacred few. Whether they are the Chiraraâ⠢ mask of Bambara meant to appease the spirits of agriculture or the Bundu mask of the Mende society, meant for initiation rites, the symbols, masks and figures of traditional Africa are imbued with power to mediate fertility, wealth, health, and divination. Where these traditional customs flourished, a continuity of the sacred order is sustained through initiations, sacrifices and worship, as seen in the Poroâ⠢ society of sierra-Leone and the Ifaâ⠢ worship of Oshogbo, Nigeria. The mystical characters encountered in these societies provides only but a surface penetration into their meanings and values. Although the bulk of traditional African art is centered on religions inspiration, yet, there are those whose excellent forms hold no religions significance whatever, such as the Ashanti gold weights, Dahomean brass and appliqueâ⠢ cloths, Yoruba house-post and the Cameroon pipe bowls. However, African religions vary in their emphasis, but all include some worship of nature-duties, the recognition of the power of the ancestors, the belief in an ability to foretell the future, and in the efficacy of magic. In the eastern part of the continent, family cults seem to have primacy, while in the western potion; gods who represent the forces of nature are most prominent. Yet both beliefs are found everywhere in Africa, even in the simple cultures of the extreme south. The custodians of these deities, divinations and ancestral figures are specialist whose techniques, shrines and methods very widely. Oracles that are consulted to reward good and punish evil, magic that creates confidence and hope or dispels fear is ubiquitous and finds its expression in the charm, which is wrongly and ignorantly seen us evil because of its fetishâ⠢ connotation ââ¬Å" a term derived from Portuguese feiticoâ⠢, meaning, things madeâ⠢, and from this again the misnomer for the re ligion of certain parts of Africa, fetichism. Furthermore, the esthetic drive and religions expressions of art in Africa is not only rendered or restricted to two and three-dimensional forms of expressions, but are also found in music, dance and storytelling. Everywhere, song and dance contributes immensely to worship. Singing takes the fundamental form of antiphony between leader and chorus, while the drum is sometimes the sole and always the principal instrument played to accompany song. The dance beat known in its ritual forms, is based on great ingenuity in execution of complicated steps and bodily movement, depicting spirituality, victory or quest as in the case of the Chiwaraâ⠢ dance, Bambara, Mali. Dancing is the supreme expression of worship in every traditional African religion. African folklore includes myth, tale, proverbs and riddle which are closely integrated into the life of the people, and which are striking in their unity over the continent. Then myths explain the nature of the world and the forces that rule it, thus, sanctioning social structures and the ancestral cults by the account they provide of group origins and early clan adventure. By reference to sacred tales, priest derived authority, ritual force and magical power. The myth of Faâ⠢ a being with sixteen eyes as told in the Dahomean folklore, is of important reference on this point. The general belief that African art is a result of inspiration cannot be overemphasized following the treads and development of the African civilizations. Religion is an important part of the cultures that make up the vast African communities, and is interrelated with other facets of life far more intimately than among humans. Thus, the supernatural world is part o the workaday round, to be met without fear and with full knowledge that for every ill there is a remedy, for every problem a specialist who can help with a solution and for every awe, a call for reverence. As such, religion becomes immediate to life, not removed from it; a fully functioning part of universe that encompasses both the living and the dead with a system of that is strong and sure because, for the traditional African, each day of his life is a fulfillment of the pragmatic test to which he continuously experience. The teachings on the Four Noble Truths are known by all and the beliefs have a known basis acceptable on mere faith. The Four Noble Truths therefore are said to be fundamental teachings of Buddhism taught as the first lessons to an individual being introduced to such a religion. It is considered as a doctrine which contains way of life which followers assert that it can lead to suffering. From the Buddhaââ¬â¢s point of enlightenment, the teachings are said to have strong psychological insight and a cognitive methodology. Accordingly, the Four Noble Truths provide that suffering as part of human life can be eliminated through devotion to such teachings. The interest of Buddha was to show interest in the direct path to true happiness. The Four Noble Truths form part of Buddhaââ¬â¢s teachings and are said to be noble as they are taught by Noble individuals. The people involved in the teachings have strong perceptions about reality and thus understanding such teachings makes one ennobled. Buddha became enlightened about the profound truth in relation to the nature of life after seeing the light under Bodhi tree. The Four Noble Truths include the noble truth about suffering, origin of suffering, cessation of suffering and way leading to cessation of suffering. The first teaching about the Four Noble Truths clearly indicates that life is characterized by frustration, suffering and dissatisfaction. Dukkha promotes individuals existence with implications on matters affecting body and mind. The human body is complex and it is affected by issues such as old age, pain, sickness, war and death. The frustration and pain which is caused by impermanence as individuals struggle with life to be happy and stay a comfortable life. During this time of seeking for comfort, finding pleasure becomes invariable hence turning to pain. In other instances, suffering becomes inevitable as much as people live according to Dukkhaââ¬â¢s teachings. The mind is affected by matters such as failing to acquire what one likes in life, staying away from things or people a person likes most or being in a life situation which is not pleasant. Individuals suffer as a result of hopelessness which is related to lack of satisfaction in life caused by desire. IN this aspect the first provision of the Four Nobel Truths corresponds to reality about human suffering. Second teaching according to Four Nobel Truths relates to origin of suffering which results from engagement of individuals in day to day activities. Three main unsatisfactory experiences identified as causes of dissatisfactions include craving, aversion and ignorance. In this aspect, craving is a constituent of wanting more or greed. Individuals always are unsatisfied with what they have and hence want to engage in activities that lead to suffering. Aversion in its category relates to hatred or failure to engage with others hence making an individual suffer. Ignorance is a common element in the lives of many individuals which is attributable to lack of wisdom. Ending of suffering is the third component in which case life can be without dissatisfactions leading to peaceful state. Suffering can be eliminated from the life of individuals as per teachings of Buddhism. Elimination of suffering from human life is a concept that can be eliminated through being devoid of feeling and passion. Buddhism taught about an appropriate approach towards elimination of suffering which involves mortification and indulgence. Elimination of suffering from an individualââ¬â¢s life is therefore achieved through extinguishment of aversion, craving and ignorance. The truth of the path leading to end of suffering is the final concept of the Fourth Nobel Truths. This means a way of life without dissatisfactions which led to peace of mind and happiness. The most important aspect that leads to cessation of suffering is through following of the middle path. This is done without consideration of subsidence of extreme desire which results to full release of occurrence. According to teachings by Buddha there is the Noble Eightfold path used as a way of eliminating suffering from individualââ¬â¢s life resulting to achievement in oneââ¬â¢s life. The foundation of Buddhism is rooted in Eightfold path which was first enumerated by Buddha. These provisions are considered s measures towards enlightenment and should be put into consideration to end suffering. The Eightfold path is a practical guideline that considers ethical and mental development in human life for purpose of freeing a person from delusions. The principles are classified in three categories which relates to wisdom, ethical conduct and mental development. Wisdom constitutes of right view and right intention, Ethical conduct is a constituent of right speech, right action and right livelihood. Finally, mental development constitutes of right effort, right mindfulness and right concentration. Right view is the first principle in Eightfold path which means to see and understand issues in reality as a way of realizing the Four Noble Truth. It is one of the most critical component of wisdom which makes an individual to understand the law in relation to karma and karmic. Right view is attained, enhanced and sustained in all mind capacities. Right intention is another main principle in the category of wisdom which refers to mental energy in control of individualââ¬â¢s actions. Basically, right intention is described as commitment to mental and ethical considerations for purpose of self-improvement. Three main types of right intentions recognized by Buddha include intention of renunciation, good will and harmlessness. In the category of ethical conduct there is right speech which clearly reflects the teachings of Buddha in which words can lead to creation of enemies, breaking or saving of life, and creation of peace or start of war. Right action is another aspect of ethical conduct which involves the entire body as a means of expressing feelings. Buddhaââ¬â¢s teachings advocate for right action which results to respect of others for the purpose of a peaceful existence. Right livelihood is the other right of ethical conduct whereby an individual is deemed to live a righteous life. Right livelihood should be achieved through proper means which does not harm others. Mental development is the final concept of the Eightfold path which constitutes of first, right effort which is an act of will achieve through mental energy. The energy that fuels envy, desire and aggression can on the other hand promote honesty, kindness and self discipline. Right mindfulness is another principle controlled and perfected by cognition. The main principle of this concept is seeing things as they are through a clear consciousness. Right mindfulness is a concept which creates awareness on the way of individuals thought. Finally, right concentration refers to mental development occurring as a concept of natural consciousness. Right concentration according to Buddhist teachings is achieved through mediation. Imperialism Essay -- History Rome Papers
Imperialism "Imperialism - the policy, practice, or advocacy of extending the power and dominion of a nation especially by direct territorial acquisitions or by gaining indirect control over the political or economic life of other areas; broadly: the extension or imposition of power, authority, or influence" According to Webster's dictionary's definition of "imperialism", a nation is not truly imperialistic until it has controlled another territory through political or economic aspects or directly annexed the land. There were many steps in the history of Rome, which lead her down the road of becoming an imperialistic nation. Rome's dealings with the Mamertines, Hiero, and Carthage in Sicily around 264 BC would lead to the First Punic War, and thus lead Rome down the path of Imperialism. The Romans actions in that war were in fact not Imperialistic at all, but in the wars that would ensue with Carthage Rome would begin to develop a sense that Rome was the destined ruler of the world (Frank, 238). Not until the Third Punic War had Rome truly committed an act of Imperialism, when she destroyed the kingdom of Carthage for her benefit without a just cause. The confidence Rome gained in herself from the deposing of the greatest kingdom she had known, would open the gates for Roman expansion into the East. As Hiero of Syracuse advanced in an attempt to win back Messana, on the basis that the Carthaginians were protecting the independence of Messana from Hiero, they resurrected a garrison in the city (Boardman et al, 27). The Mamertines, however, did not wish for the type of independence that came in being a Carthaginian protectorate. The Mamertines would come to ask Rome for her protection from both the Carthaginian... ...e, and she was for her era. Often it is difficult to look at Romeââ¬â¢s actions and think how they could possibly act in such a manner, but the problem entails in that an individual will tend to think about their era instead of looking at Romeââ¬â¢s. How Society Is Affected by Gov Policies Essay
How society is affected by goverment policies, civil disobedience, This is the deliberate and planned breach of policy or law by an individual or group of people. It is usually done peacefully to highlight how inappropriate a law is and promote the need for a change in the law. Civil disobedience was a common tool in the black civil rights movement in the USA in the 1960s. Black people would deliberately break the racial segregation laws to show how deeply unfair they were and how much the law needed to change. A good example of this is the case of Rosa Parks, who in December 1955 refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man when asked to do so. She was arrested and her arrest sparked a chain of events which led to the US Supreme Court decision in 1956 that racial segregation on transportation was illegal. Demonstration and meetings, Meetings to discuss problems with government policy are very common. They are a way for like-minded individuals to air their concerns. Meeting can be held outside and include a march or demonstration to show the government or local authority the depth of public feeling against decision. A good example of this would be the rallies and protests organised by the Countryside Alliance since the UK government placed a ban on foxhunting. Terrorism, Terrorism is an extreme response to public policy. It involves an individual or group using violence or the threat of violence against civilian and military targets in order to force the government to change its policy.

The short story refers to a work of fiction that is usually written in prose, usually in narrative format. This format or medium tends to be more pointed than longer works of fiction, such as novellas (in the 20th and 21st century sense) and novels or books. Short story definitions based upon length differ somewhat even among professional writers, due somewhat in part to the fragmentation of the medium into genres.
